On behalf of the organising committee, we would like to warmly welcome you to the 7th Biotransformations Symposium for the Pharmaceutical and Cosmetics Industry (7BPCI), which is taking place in Poznan, a city with historical charm in the industrial heartland of Poland.
Bringing together scientists, researchers and industry professionals from around the world, this international event will explore the latest advancements in biocatalysis, enzymatic processes and sustainable transformations in pharmaceuticals and cosmetics.
The symposium provides an ideal setting for sharing and disseminating scientific knowledge about innovative technologies and best management practices for the sustainable, large-scale application of biocatalysis.
We have an exciting programme of scientific and social events that will allow delegates to explore some of the most innovative technological developments in the field of biocatalysis, discuss current and future research directions, share their passion for research, renew old friendships and forge new ones, and expand their professional networks.
Join us for a dynamic programme of keynote lectures, oral presentations and networking opportunities, all designed to foster collaboration and innovation in this rapidly evolving field.
Prof. Jakub Zdarta
Chief of the 7BPCI scientific committee
Prof. Teofil Jesionowski
Chief of the 7BPCI scientific committee, PUT Rector
The 7BPCI conference focuses on bioconversion processes in a broad sense and their practical application in industry, particularly in the cosmetics and pharmaceutical sectors. The main conference topics are as follows:
The BPCI conference series stems directly from the POIG 'Biotransformations for the Pharmaceutical and Cosmetic Industry’ project and is overseen by a standing scientific committee. The committee was initially chaired by Prof. Paweł Kafarski and is currently chaired by Prof. Ryszard Ostaszewski. This committee comprises leading experts from various Polish universities who specialise in biocatalytic processes.
A further advantage of the 7th BPCI conference is that, despite its cyclical nature, this will be the first time the event has been held in Poznan. Previous BPCI conferences have been held in major Polish cities, including Lodz (1st BPCI, 2012), Warsaw (2nd and 3rd BPCI, 2014 and 2016), Wroclaw (4th BPCI, 2018), the Czestochowa area (5th BPCI, 2022) and Cracow (6th BPCI, 2024).
The high professional level of the BPCI conference series is further evidenced by the fact that each previous edition attracted approximately 80 participants, who had the opportunity to listen to a carefully selected group of speakers regularly invited to deliver lectures at these events.
Speakers at previous editions of the conference included: Prof. Edmund Magner (Ireland), Prof. Ulf Hanefeld (Germany), Prof. Roger Sheldon (the Netherlands), Prof. Roland Wohlgemuth (Switzerland), Prof. Peter Grunwald (Germany), Prof. Andreas Bechthold (Germany), Prof. Johann Heider (Germany) and Prof. Sandra Vojnović (Serbia), as well as many other respected experts with international experience in issues broadly related to biocatalysis.
The Poznan University of Technology is a unique institution. Across our nine faculties, we offer over 40 fields of study in Polish and English to more than 15,000 students. These include subjects that enjoy unflagging interest throughout Poland, such as computer science, architecture, management and mechanics. The university has excellent staff, modern laboratories and lecture rooms, and an educational programme that responds to the development of the region, the country and the world. We also offer electromobility, renewable energy, cybersecurity, environmental protection and artificial intelligence studies and solutions. The university has its own airport and implements projects for aviation and space research. Thanks to our state-of-the-art infrastructure, we are creating the products of the future, which will define research directions and provide advanced practical solutions.
The Warta Campus
Located in the city centre, the Warta Campus has comprehensive infrastructure solutions related to education and scientific research. It has modern teaching buildings and well-equipped laboratories, as well as sports and cultural centres and student dormitories.
The conference will take place in the Poznan University of Technology’s lecture centre, located in the heart of the Warta Campus.
For the 7BPCI conference participants, we recommend hotels located within a short distance from the Poznan University of Technology Warta Campus:
Participants can choose from a variety of nearby hotels catering to different budgets. Recommended options include:
Hotel A – Luxury accommodation with conference shuttle service
Hotel B – Mid-range option close to the venue
